If you own or plan to purchase ATVs, e-bikes, dirt bikes, or other toys, you’ll need the right toy hauler to transport them. Forest River is introducing a new toy hauler lineup – the Forest River Nightfall and Nightfall Ultra – that you should consider in your toy hauler search.
There are many reasons why outdoor lovers choose toy haulers over other RV types. They’re the only reasonable RV for hauling motorized toys and have extremely versatile sleeping spaces once your gear is unloaded.
Let’s look at the new Forest River Nightfall and Nightfall Ultra floorplans, their features, and where to find them.

ToggleThe Forest River Nightfall Toy Haulers

Nightfall and Nightfall Ultra are Forest River private label RVs introduced at the 2024 Florida RV SuperShow. There’s currently a single floorplan in the Ultra lineup (21N) and two floorplans in the Nightfall lineup (25N, 27N).
The main difference between the Forest River Nightfall and the Nightfall Ultra is interior height. They’re both excellent RVs for taller campers. So we’ve included that spec in this roundup of the three floorplans currently available:
Ultra 21N | 25N | 27N | |
Length | 27’3” | 28’10” | 32’5” |
Dry Weight (lbs.) | 7,098 | 6,268 | 6,853 |
CCC* | 4,427 | 5,007 | 4,587 |
Interior Height | 90” (7’6”) | 84” (7’) | 84” (7’) |
Garage Length | 14’ | 14’6” | 14’2” |
Sleeps | Up to 6 | Up to 6 | Up to 6 |
*CCC stands for cargo carrying capacity.
Details of the Forest River Nightfall Floorplans
All three of these smaller toy haulers feature a 3,000-pound-capacity rear ramp door that can convert to a rear patio deck with a 1,500-pound capacity. They also boast a manual drop-down, queen-sized Euro bed above two queen-sized sofa sleepers, and a removable dinette table. That’s comfortable sleeping for four in the garage alone if you keep count.
The layout varies between the three models as you move towards the front of each floorplan, so let’s go into the main differences between the Nightfall Ultra 21N and the Nightfall 25N and 27N.
Nightfall Ultra 21N
You step into the Nightfall Ultra 21N directly across from the kitchen. The layout places the kitchen on the off-camp wall, providing a full 77” from the camp-side interior wall to the start of the kitchen cabinetry. Due to the higher ceilings in this model, the distance from the floor to the bottom of the manual bunk in the garage is 81.5”.
You’ll have the first of two bathroom doors to your right when you step inside. Next to it is the entry door to the private main sleeping area, which boasts an east-west queen-sized bed nestled into the toy hauler’s lone slide-out.
At the front of the bedroom, you’ll find a dresser with a large mirror above it and a small bench to sit on. Across from the small bench, there’s a storage cabinet with an exterior mirror that can function as a second vanity as desired.
At the foot of the bed, there’s a second private entrance from the bedroom to the bathroom. This offers entries from the bathroom and the main living area, providing plenty of privacy in a toy hauler that measures well under 30 feet long.

Nightfall 25N
Though slightly larger than the 21N, the Nightfall 25N still fits under that 30’ length threshold that can limit the campground availability for larger RVs. The 25N also features the kitchen across from the entry door and the distance from the interior of the camp side wall to the start of the cabinetry measures 76.675”. The kitchen is slightly larger than the 21N, providing more comfort for meal prep and cleanup.
There’s still 76” of clearance from the floor to the bottom of the manual bunk in the garage, an important consideration for taller motorized vehicles like golf carts. Turning towards the front of the floorplan, the 25N features a step-through bathroom between the kitchen/living area and the main sleeping area. Like the 21N and the 27N, the bathroom has all your essentials – an RV toilet, a linen closet, a sink with a mirrored vanity, and a 30” x 36” shower with a skylight above it.
The main sleeping area boasts a north-south queen-sized bed with ward closets and nightstands on either side. There’s also plenty of overhead cabinetry, storage under the bed, a third closet at the foot of the bed on the off-camp side, and a CPAP-prepped area behind the ward on the off-camp side.

Nightfall 27N
After seeing the two smaller models first, I stepped into the Nightfall 27N and immediately noticed the different kitchen layout. It’s the only of the three floorplans with an L-shaped kitchen, which gives you the added space between the kitchen and garage for a TV-prepped entertainment center and extra storage.
This kitchen also has the most counterspace of the three floorplans, with perfectly positioned outlets for plugging in a coffee maker or other kitchen appliances. And in an area that many manufacturers neglect – above the microwave – Forest River went above and beyond to install a wine rack instead of leaving the space unused.
A thoughtful addition I noticed on the way towards the main sleeping area was the coat hooks on the wall panel across from the entry door. The bathroom features a single entry door off the hallway, but that still means nobody has to go through the main sleeping area in the middle of the night.
Like the 25N, the sleeping area features a north-south queen-sized bed with the same storage areas on either side and above the head of the bed, as well as the CPAP-prep on the off-camp side. A small ward closet at the foot of the bed on the off-camp side provides additional storage, but it’s not quite as large as the third bedroom closet in the 25N.

Features of the Forest River Nightfall Toy Haulers
Let’s look at the design and construction features that all Nightfall models share:
Hauling Capacity

Each Nightfall and Nightfall Ultra toy hauler boasts multiple 5,000-pound tie-downs. The exact number will vary based on the floorplan, but it’s important to note that you’ll have tie-downs in the garage and the area between the kitchen cabinetry and the camp-side wall.
Each tie-down is secured with four 2” screws that are installed directly through the floor decking into the floor’s 2” x 3” framing. While the Congoleum kitchen flooring differs from the oil and gas-resistant black garage floor, it’s easy to clean and is resistant to scratches, tears, and spills.
Each Nightfall model boasts an impressive rated cargo-carrying capacity. What I appreciated when speaking to Forest River about this model is the thoughtfulness they put into securing the sofa sleepers so buyers could easily remove them with standard tools. This allows you to expand the garage for maximum hauling capability.
It also makes it easy to remove the sofas, wrap them in a protective blanket, and keep them in a protected, climate-controlled storage area during the off-season so they remain in the best condition possible long-term.
Off-Grid Power

When I think of toy haulers, I immediately think of destinations like Sand Mountain in Northern Nevada or Glamis in Southern California. They’re both perfect dune areas for riding ATVs, dirt bikes, and other toys, but neither have campgrounds with full hookups nestled amongst the dunes.
Most toy hauler owners want to camp off-grid to enjoy the toys they’re hauling, which is why Forest River designed each Nightfall model with a roof-mounted 200-watt solar panel and a 30-amp charge controller.
An appropriately-sized portable generator can also power each, but the Nightfall Ultra 21N is prepped for an onboard generator installation. Two options are available for Yamaha onboard generators, and we encourage you to learn how to use and maintain an onboard generator if you choose one of these options.
Extended Season Capability

You won’t be limited to summer camping with any of the Forest River Nightfall toy haulers. Each is built for extended-season camping, and that begins with a lightweight, E-coated, and powder-coated NXG frame that provides maximum rust protection.
Forest River’s Extended Season package also delivers a fully insulated and enclosed underbelly huck-bolted to the NXG frame to protect the holding tanks and keep out debris and pests. The roof, floor, and front cap are also wrapped in Alumifoil thermofoil. The entire unit is insulated with spray-on, closed-cell polyurethane foam, unlike the standard foam batt insulation strips used in many stick-and-tin trailers.
There are many added benefits of spray foam insulation, including the elimination of voids and the proper sealing of cracks and crevices to deliver improved R-value for the entire trailer. Spray foam insulation also results in improved sound deadening, increased structural rigidity, and better mold resistance.
In addition to these important construction features, each Nightfall is equipped with a 15,000-BTU air conditioner and ducted A/C venting to deliver ample cooling capacity on hot desert days. They can also be prepped for a second A/C if desired.
For the cooler months, the Nightfall Ultra 21N is built with a 35,000-BTU furnace, and you’ll find a 20,000-BTU furnace as the standard in the Nightfall 25N and 27N.
Versatile Sleeping, Seating, and Dining Areas

Versatility is such an important feature for all toy haulers. They’re built around the ability of a “mobile garage” to become a suitable living, sleeping, or dining space once your gear is unloaded. On this front, the Forest River Nightfall lineup doesn’t disappoint.
For starters, the manual Euro bunk above the sleepers is easy to pull down and climb once it’s in the lowered position. By opting for a manual design, there’s no chance that you finish enjoying a long camping weekend and can’t load your toys into the garage because a motor issue prevents you from retracting the bunk up to the ceiling.
Below the bunk, there are plenty of options for the sofa sleepers:
- Fold one down and keep the other as a sofa.
- Fold them both down for two side-by-side beds or one massive sleeping area.
- Use them as opposing couches with a central walkway.
- Set the dinette table between them for meals.
- Or easily remove them entirely for maximum hauling capacity.

Speaking of that dinette table, it’s lightweight and easy to reposition. So you can set it up in many locations inside or outside this RV. Between the sofas is the most obvious place, but one of the models had it set up opposite the kitchen on the camp-side wall.
I imagined moving it outside under the awning for meals on a nice evening. It could also be moved out onto the patio for outdoor meals. The legs even fold up so it can be stowed away between uses. One thing is certain to me after touring these toy haulers: the only thing that will limit your ability to customize your setup is your imagination.
Fuel Storage (Ultra only)
The final feature to call out is specific to the Nightfall Ultra 21N. But it’s an important one. While you can always bring multiple portable fuel containers, the 21N is built with a 30-gallon fuel cell accessed towards the rear of the trailer’s camp side. This fuel tank includes a pumping station, making it easy to refill your toys after a long day of riding.
