When most people think of toy haulers, they often picture large RVs stretching 30 to 40 feet long. But not all toy haulers are giants. You’re in luck if you’re looking for a more manageable size without giving up garage space for an ATV, golf cart, or kayaks. This guide highlights small toy haulers under 30 feet that are compact, versatile, and ready for manageable adventures.

Why 30 feet? RVs over that length often have more difficulty fitting into more rustic or national park campgrounds. These sites likely appeal to campers who also like to bring larger recreational gear. Even if it isn’t an all-terrain vehicle, it’s likely e-bikes, kayaks, or paddleboards. Plus, small toy haulers weigh less and can be towed by various half-ton and ¾-ton trucks.

Let’s explore the best small toy haulers from manufacturers like Forest River, Jayco, East to West, and Grand Design.

Key Takeaways

  • Compact Yet Capable: This guide highlights toy haulers under 30 feet long that offer generous garage space, high cargo capacities, and full amenities, making them ideal for those who want to haul gear like ATVs or kayaks while maintaining a manageable RV size for tighter campgrounds and easier towing.
  • Top Picks by Brand: Featured models from Forest River, Grand Design, Jayco, East to West, and others offer diverse layouts, including Murphy beds, convertible patios, off-road upgrades, and solar packages, proving that small toy haulers don’t skimp on comfort or functionality.
  • Towing and Size Considerations: Many of these toy haulers are towable by half-ton or ¾-ton trucks, though fully loaded weights should be carefully considered; for ultra-light needs, models under 2,000 pounds or toy hauler motorhomes from Thor or Newmar offer alternative solutions.

Leading Brands with Toy Haulers Under 30 Feet

As full-time RVers, we found these unique, small toy haulers with lighter-than-average dry weights while boasting considerable cargo capacities. They still offer plenty of garage space and don’t cut back on the amenities you expect.

Forest River Nightfall

Specs (for models under 30 feet)

  • Lengths: 26’5” to 29′
  • Dry Weight: 6,368 to 7,013 pounds
  • Cargo Carrying Capacity: 4,247 to 4,947 pounds
  • Garage Length: 14 to 17 feet
  • Sleeping Capacity: Up to 6

Forest River’s Nightfall toy hauler lineup includes five floor plans, but the smallest three all measure under 30 feet. Their dry weights make them excellent candidates for towing with half-ton trucks like an F-150 or Chevy 1500, provided you’re careful about your total weight once cargo is loaded.

All 2025 Nightfall RVs feature cargo capacities over 4,000 pounds with multiple tie-downs in the garage for securing your toys. Their kitchens feature multi-burner gas cooktops, 12V refrigerators, and stainless steel basin-style sinks. Their manual drop-down garage beds make them easy to convert for extra sleeping once toys are unloaded.

Here’s a bit more about the three Nightfall floor plans under 30 feet:

  • 20NThe smallest layout features a front Murphy bed, which allows you to expand the living space during the day and easily convert the bed for sleeping.
  • 21NA bed slide opens up the front bedroom, making room for a larger dresser and private access to the bathroom.
  • 25NA slideless floor plan with a walkthrough bathroom separating the kitchen, living, and garage area from the front bedroom with a queen bed.

Specs (for models under 30 feet)

  • Length: 24’1″ to 29’
  • Dry Weight: 4,463 to 4,871 pounds
  • Cargo Carrying Capacity: 2,815 to 3,087 pounds
  • Garage Length: 10’1” to 12’9”
  • Sleeping Capacity: Up to 4

At barely over 24 feet, the 2025 Grey Wolf lineup features one of the shortest toy haulers, offering another travel trailer under 30 feet with serious hauling capability. These toy haulers featured removable sofa brackets that make loading easier. Once unloaded, the ramp door converts to a patio, and a roof-mounted air conditioner keeps the interior cool.

Unlike many competitors, these Forest River toy haulers don’t feature drop-down beds in the garage. Instead, the extra sleeping space comes in one or two fold-down sofas. A microwave with air fryer capability is a nice upgrade in the kitchen. But serious off-road enthusiasts will love this camper’s aggressive off-road tires, lifted frame, and diamond-plated front rock guard.

Here’s a quick overview of the two Grey Wolf toy hauler RVs under 30 feet:

  • 18RRWhile the garage isn’t full-width in this floor plan, you can use over 15 feet of the RV’s length to store smaller motorized toys like dirt bikes.
  • 22RRThe private front suite makes this toy hauler’s bedroom with a king bed feel more like the residential-style bedrooms in larger fifth wheel toy haulers.

Forest River Ozark

  • Dry Weight: 5,228 to 5,493 pounds
  • Cargo Carrying Capacity: 4,242 to 4,312 pounds
  • Garage Length: 10’5” to 13’
  • Sleeping Capacity: Up to 4

The Ozark travel trailer lineup features two small toy hauler floor plans perfect for smaller trucks. These solar-prepped RVs are built with a 200-watt roof-mounted solar panel and a 30-amp charge controller, helping to keep your batteries topped off in storage or when boondocking.

Standout features include an oversized entry door (30” wide vs the standard 26” designs), a patio deck with a railing system, and an enclosed but accessible underbelly for added climate and debris protection.

Here’s a bit more about the two Ozark toy haulers under 30 feet:

  • 2500THKA kitchen skylight lets natural light pour into this RV’s main living and cooking area. A queen bed in the front bedroom provides a private sleeping area separate from the flip-out sofas that turn into a king bed in the garage.

Grand Design Momentum MAV Small Toy Haulers

Specs (for models under 30 feet)

  • Length: 26’6” to 29’11”
  • Dry Weight: 5,600 to 6,580 pounds
  • Cargo Carrying Capacity: 4,350 to 4,420 pounds
  • Garage Length: 13’6’’ to 18’
  • Sleeping Capacity: Up to 5

The 2025 Grand Design Momentum MAV lineup features three toy hauler floor plans, with two small models under 30 feet. All boast features to make getting into your campsite and setting up easy, such as backup camera prep, a power tongue jack, and an all-in-one utility center for easy water, sewer, and electrical hookups.

The toy hauler garage features 2,500-pound-capacity tie-downs and a pull-down screen to keep the bugs out while keeping the ramp door open for added ventilation. Speaking of that ramp door, it converts to a patio for indoor-outdoor living comfort. Plus, a 24” DoveTail as the rear of the loading ramp makes it easier to get bikes, ATVs, and other gear in and secured.

Check out these two Momentum MAV toy haulers under 30 feet:

  • 22MAVThis is one of the most versatile toy hauler layouts. The primary bed is a queen Murphy bed that converts to a comfy sofa. A rollover sofa in the garage can be set up with a movable dining table or converted for extra sleeping space. Plus, the E-Z lift drop-down bunk sleeps two more.
  • 24MAVThis layout also features a queen Murphy bed as the primary sleeping area. With Euro chairs, a fold-up dinette, and a spacious front kitchen, it’s one of the best small toy haulers for couples.

Forest River Salem FSX

Images by Forest River

Specs (for models under 30 feet)

  • Length: 21’9” to 28’8″
  • Dry Weight: 4,708 to 5,893 pounds
  • Cargo Carrying Capacity: 3,032 to 4,522 pounds
  • Garage Length: 16 to 17 feet
  • Sleeping Capacity: Up to 4

The Salem FSX RV collection is one of Forest River’s leading brands. The 2025 lineup features 14 unique floor plans built with the toy hauler-style rear ramp door. However, several only feature the ramp as a convertible patio rather than for loading motorized toys. The following four floor plans are their best toy haulers under 30 feet for those looking to haul dirt bikes or ATVs.

The rear ramp door on all four offers a 3,000-pound capacity when loading heavy gear. That door converts to an outdoor patio that can hold up to 1,500 pounds. A powder-coated and cambered I-beam frame delivers stiffer structural support, while steel floor supports add additional durability and load capacity to the garage.

Compare these top Salem FSX small toy haulers:

  • 175RTKIdeal for couples, this layout offers a front queen bed, full bathroom, functional kitchenette with a skylight, and a sleeper sofa positioned across from the kitchen in the 54” garage.
  • 190RTKWith up to 17 feet of garage space, this layout offers the four’s most interior cargo room. It also offers two 30” x 72” sleeper sofas, giving you extra lounge space and/or added sleeping capacity.
  • 210RTKThis layout’s larger primary bedroom has a king-sized bed. The garage boasts an 84” ceiling height and opposing sleeper sofas that convert to one large bed when needed.
  • 260RTK The walkthrough bathroom in this layout provides the most privacy for sleepers in the front bedroom. With doors on both ends, everyone enjoys bathroom access throughout the night without walking through anyone else’s sleeping area.

East to West Alta 2400KTH

Specs

  • Length: 28’1″
  • Dry Weight: 7,428 pounds
  • Cargo Carrying Capacity: 4,137 pounds
  • Garage Length: 13’6’’
  • Sleeping Capacity: Up to 6

The East to West brand is a relative newcomer to the RV industry, but it’s quickly making a name for itself. The Alta 2400KTH is one of the best small toy haulers with a king-sized bed. It also includes a high-output tankless water heater, making it easy for your entire camping party to enjoy hot showers after a day of adventuring.

The lounge area stands out for larger families. You get opposing sofas once toys are unloaded, and a movable table can be set up between them for dining or remote work. There are still two swivel chairs for additional seating. The rear ramp door converts to a patio, and this small toy hauler comes with a 30-gallon fuel station standard, allowing you to transport extra fuel to keep your toys going with fewer supply runs back to town.

Forest River Rogue 23SUT

Specs

  • Length: 27’2″
  • Dry Weight: 5,498 pounds
  • Cargo Carrying Capacity: 4,497 pounds
  • Garage Length: 20’
  • Sleeping Capacity: Up to 4

This Forest River toy hauler is one of the least expensive on the market and includes unique highlights like a flip-up main bed, an outdoor leash latch for your pets, and indoor and outdoor showers. Plus, the flip-up queen-sized bed increases the garage storage area to a total length of 20 feet.

That 20-foot garage is one of the largest in any toy hauler, let alone in a toy hauler travel trailer under 28 feet long. The flip-up Murphy bed further expands your living space during the day, making this the perfect small toy hauler for families that want to haul a lot while retaining ample interior living space for game nights or rainy day activities.

Forest River XLR Boost 2114BX

Images by Forest River

Specs

  • Length: 27’6″
  • Dry Weight: 7,428 pounds
  • Cargo Carrying Capacity: 3,962 pounds
  • Garage Length: 14’
  • Sleeping Capacity: Up to 6

While it has one of the heaviest dry weights of these small toy haulers, Forest River’s XLR Boost 2114BX boasts upgraded features that make it worth the need for a more capable tow vehicle. Inside, a queen bed slide expands the primary suite, which has private access to the main bathroom.

Generator prep, a 200-watt solar package, and a built-in 30-gallon fuel station make this one of the best small toy haulers for off-grid camping. Other convenient perks include a 30” electric fireplace, a 12-volt French door refrigerator, and a canvas wall protecting the ramp door opening. Plus, you’ll love the ease of the Euro bed above the sofa sleepers, which easily drops down manually so that you can comfortably sleep up to six adults.

Grand Design Momentum G-Class 21G

Specs

  • Length: 26’11”
  • Dry Weight: 6,400 pounds
  • Cargo Carrying Capacity: 4,600 pounds
  • Garage Length: 14’
  • Sleeping Capacity: Up to 6

Grand Design is known for quality RVs, and the Momentum G-Class 21G holds that standard. The camper boasts many high-end options like a Rockford Fosgate Bluetooth stereo system, stainless steel accented appliances, a residential walk-in shower, and a 60” x 80’ queen bed in a slide-out.

This small toy hauler also includes a 30-gallon fuel tank for outdoor toys and is pet-friendly with a flip-up pet dish between the two Euro chairs. The garage delivers 2,500-pound-capacity tie-downs anchored directly to the chassis, and lights above the rear ramp make it safer and easier to load and unload after dark.

Forest River Wolf Pack 24-14.5

Specs

  • Length: 29’7″
  • Dry Weight: 6,398 pounds
  • Cargo Carrying Capacity: 4,922 pounds
  • Garage Length: 14’6”
  • Sleeping Capacity: Up to 2

The Wolf Pack 24-14.5 is another small toy hauler that, while comparatively smaller than fifth wheel toy haulers, still may require a larger truck for safe towing. One reason is that it offers nearly 5,000 pounds of cargo capacity, with a 14’6” garage that varies between full width at the rear and 70.5” wide by the 12V refrigerator.

The layout is designed for couples, as the king bed in the front suite is the only sleeping option. However, it’s an excellent choice for remote working couples, as the garage provides a flip-up counter with bar stools beneath a large window. Glass patio doors on the campside also make this an intriguing option for full-time living, as some will consider building a permanent deck off the side, accessible by those large sliding doors.

Can a Half-Ton Truck Pull a Toy Hauler?

Many travel trailer toy haulers have dry weights under the maximum tow capacity for most half-ton trucks. However, you will want to consider the fully loaded weight, as the dry weight plus the maximum cargo capacity can bring it close to a half-ton truck’s limit. If you’re going to haul the heaviest loads, a ¾-ton truck offers a higher towing capacity.

What is the Smallest Toy Hauler?

So, is 30 feet still too big or heavy for you? Don’t despair! Smaller toy haulers are still an option, offering storage capacity instead of some residential features. If you’re towing with an SUV rather than a truck, consider these three units, which sleep two people.

The Forest River No Boundaries 10.6 weighs just 1,763 pounds and is small enough to park anywhere.

The Intech Flyer Explore is under 15 feet and barely weighs over 2,000 pounds. It includes an expandable tent for sleeping and a roof rack for extra cargo storage.

The stylish ATC PLA 350 Series 1210 has a more homey feel, with accent decor and an air fryer in the kitchen.

Who Makes a Toy Hauler Motorhome?

Brands like Thor Motor Coach, Newmar, and Renegade RV make toy hauler motorhomes. Thor offers Class A and Class C toy haulers. Newmar’s Canyon Star is a Class A motorhome toy hauler, and the Renegade RV Classic brand offers multiple Super C motorhomes with toy hauler floor plans. These toy haulers provide more amenities and living features than you may expect in an RV. The cargo capacities vary, but you can expect to spend substantially more than on the small toy haulers under 30 feet mentioned above.
