About Contributor

Josh has lived and breathed RVing since 2016. Launching out in a vintage Airstream, he spent 4 years trekking ’round the country in search of the greatest spaces and places in the U.S. He’s since settled a bit and has spent the past few years running a glampground in NW Montana (right by Glacier National Park). His Montana property features 5 vintage Airstreams, cabins, a tiny home, and more for guests to experience upscale outdoor accommodations. In his spare time, you might find him on Flathead Lake, troubleshooting an Airstream upgrade, or basking in other beauties of Montana.

FEW THINGS OFFER the freedom and flexibility of a motorhome when it comes to hitting the open road. Small Class A motorhomes provide the perfect blend of luxury, convenience, and maneuverability for those who crave the comforts of home while traveling.

On average, Class A motorhomes range from 29 to 45 feet long. The longest models in that range are wonderfully spacious, but they can be more challenging to maneuver. So, we’ve chosen some of the best small Class A RV options under 32 feet, giving you plenty of high-end living amenities in more compact packages.

Key Takeaways

  • Small Class A motorhomes (under 32 feet) offer luxury features and spacious interiors while being easier to maneuver than traditional Class A RVs, which range from 35 to 45 feet.
  • Top models from Thor, Jayco, and Forest River stand out with smart layouts, full-wall slide-outs, flexible sleeping (up to 6), and standout amenities like twin-to-king beds, outdoor kitchens, pet stations, washer/dryer prep, and advanced control systems.
  • These compact Class A RVs are ideal for couples and families who want premium comfort, modern tech, and road-trip flexibility without the intimidation of a full-size motorcoach.

Our Top Small Class A RVs

Class A motorhomes are renowned for offering some of the most robust features across all camper classes. The small Class A campers listed below manage to do that while remaining compact and easy to drive.
Thor’s Freedom Traveler line accounts for many of the most affordable motorhomes that meet this criteria. Still, you’ll also find options in the Jayco Alante/Alante SE, Forest River FR3, and Entegra Coach Vision lineups.

Specs

  • Length: 25’8”
  • GVWR: 12,500 pounds
  • Chassis: Ford® E-Series
  • Sleeping Capacity: Up to 4

Favorite Feature: Twin-to-King Bed Conversion

Easily one of the smallest Class A RVs in 2026, Thor’s Freedom Traveler A24 features a unique floor plan feature typically found in camper vans or Class B Plus campers: rear twin beds with a king conversion. Each bed measures 38” x 75” in twin mode, but the king conversion measures a little under 7’10” wide for a massive, comfortable rear sleeping area.

There’s plenty to love about the rest of this small Class A motorhome. The dry bath, featuring a neo-angled shower, sits across from a wardrobe closet and the RV refrigerator. The single living room slide-out houses a 66” sofa bed with a removable pedestal table for a versatile dining or lounging area.

The kitchen boasts a two-burner cooktop, a single-basin sink, a countertop extension, and ample overhead storage for pantry items. Thor even added a removable coffee table between the front swivel chairs, allowing you to seamlessly convert the cockpit into an expanded living space once you reach camp.

Specs

  • Length: 30’6”
  • GVWR: 14,500 pounds
  • Chassis: Ford® E-Series
  • Sleeping Capacity: Up to 4

Favorite Feature: Reclining Theater Seats with Adjustable Side Tables

A newer addition to the Freedom Traveler line—and also built on the nimble E-Series chassis— the Freedom Traveler A26 floor plan swaps the twin-to-king conversion for a true queen bed in a private rear bedroom. That room also comes with dual wardrobes and nightstands, plus a dedicated 12V outlet for a CPAP machine.

The split bathroom features a separate toilet and sink area, located on one side, and a shower on the opposite wall. Pocket doors keep the bathroom separate from the bedroom and kitchen/living area, providing privacy for families or couples hosting guests.

While it still sleeps up to four comfortably, the living area features more seating. There’s an extra-deep legless dinette situated in the single slide-out, as well as theater seating with side tables on the campside wall. A drop-down 38” x 73” bunk over the cab provides an additional bed.

Jayco Alante 29S

Specs

  • Length: 31’4”
  • GVWR: 18,000 pounds
  • Chassis: Ford® F-53
  • Sleeping Capacity: Up to 6

Favorite Feature: Outdoor Kitchen + Entertainment Center

Our first addition from Jayco’s motorhome lineup, the Alante 29S, comes in just under our 32-foot threshold. It’s still easily maneuverable, but it offers expanded living space compared to some others in this category.

The central feature that expands that space is a nearly full-wall slide-out on the driver’s side. It stretches from the 68” jackknife sofa ball the way to the dresser in the rear bedroom. That bedroom features a 60” x 74” queen bed, TV prep, and a sizeable wardrobe closet.

A sliding door separates the bedroom from the rest of the layout, which boasts highlights like full-height pantry storage next to the fridge, a 42” x 70” dinette, and swiveling cockpit chairs that come with a removable central table and an ideal viewing angle of the 39” swivel-mounted TV.

Specs

  • Length: 30’9”
  • GVWR: 18,000 pounds
  • Chassis: Ford® F-53
  • Sleeping Capacity: Up to 6

Favorite Feature: Full Wall Slide-Out

Continuing our theme of the best small Class A campers with full-wall slides, the Freedom Traveler A29 features a roomy interior with a king-size bed, a fully equipped kitchen, and a home-like entertainment system.

One standout feature is the Rapid Camp+® multiplex wiring control system, which enables you to manage lighting, climate control, slide-outs, awnings, and even check tank levels and power usage, all from a touchscreen or mobile app.

It also features a 52” x 74” drop-down bunk over the cab, offering expanded sleeping space compared to the smaller floor plans. Outside, you’ll also enjoy a kitchen prep area and an exterior TV set under the powered patio awning.

Jayco Alante SE 27ASE

Specs

  • Length: 29’11”
  • GVWR: 18,000 pounds
  • Chassis: Ford® F-53
  • Sleeping Capacity: Up to 6

Favorite Feature: JRide® Package for Extra Stability

Returning to a small Class A RV just under 30 feet, the Alante SE 27ASE delivers a travel experience that seamlessly blends comfort, convenience, and adventure. Its well-designed interior is configurable to provide sleeping arrangements for up to six.

The fully equipped kitchen and spacious living area have plenty of space for the crew to watch a movie comfortably. The panoramic windshield provides an excellent view of the road ahead, making each journey visually captivating. Combining this with Jayco’s smooth JRide® system gives you the whole package for adventuring on the road.

Parents will love the complete privacy of the rear bedroom, which features a 66” x 76” king bed in a slide and a large rear wardrobe. There’s actually a second ward closet in front of the rear corner bathroom, and the bedroom can be separated from the living area by a divider. The only downside here is that kids or guests will have to walk through part of the bedroom to reach the bathroom.

Specs

  • Length: 31’11”
  • GVWR: 18,000 pounds
  • Chassis: Ford® F-53
  • Sleeping Capacity: Up to 6

Favorite Feature: Pull-Out Kibble Station™ with FDA Approved Pet Bowl Liner

The Freedom Traveler B30 is the longest of the small Class A motorhomes on our list, barely under that 32-foot mark. It’s an excellent option for couples who want extra space without forgoing convertible beds for grandkids, guests, or furry travel companions.

Speaking of the latter, my favorite feature in this layout is the built-in pet food station located in the bedroom. If you travel with pets, you know limited floor space makes it hard to find a good spot for food and water bowls without them being in the way. But here, Freedom Traveler delivers.

Additionally, this small Class A layout includes an excellent outdoor kitchen, complete with a mini fridge, pull-out griddle, and cabinet storage. Combined with the exterior TV, it’s easily one of our top small motorhomes for tailgating.

Specs

  • Length: 30’6”
  • GVWR: 14,500 pounds
  • Chassis: Ford® E-Series
  • Sleeping Capacity: Up to 4

Favorite Feature: Nimble Chassis with Expanded Living Space

If you loved the nimble benefits of the A24 and A26 but would prefer additional living space, the Freedom Traveler A28 offers an excellent alternative. It remains just over 30 feet with a lighter overall build, but the real benefit is theater seating and an oversized booth dinette in the living area.

The smaller floor plans only include a single place to sit and/or dine, and I love the extra flexibility in this layout. You still get a private rear bedroom with a 60” x 74” queen bed, a central split bathroom, and a 38” x 73” drop-down bed above the cab.

Like in the A29, the Rapid Camp+® system makes it easy to control all RV systems. Plus, you’re equipped with a 100-watt solar panel for trickle charging and a 4000-watt, 50-state-certified dual-fuel generator for off-grid power.

Forest River FR3 30DS

Images by Camping World

Specs

  1. Length: 31’11”
  2. GVWR: 22,000 pounds
  3. Chassis: Ford F-53
  4. Sleeping Capacity: Up to 6

Favorite Feature: Expanded Kitchen on the Campside Wall

The FR3 30DS is a spacious and luxurious Class A motorhome designed for family adventures and comfort on the road. The living area slide-out houses the dinette—with two extra passenger seatbelts—and the hide-a-bed sofa, maximizing living space while offering class-leading sleeping comfort.

With two slide-outs, a well-equipped kitchen, and a closet that can be converted into an RV laundry room with its washer and dryer hookups, this motorhome makes brilliant use of its space.

The campside kitchen might be my favorite feature. It features both pull-out and flip-up countertop extensions, providing arguably the most meal prep space you’ll get in a small Class A camper. Plus, the campside window over the sink makes it easy to keep an eye on the kids while you’re rinsing dishes after dinner.

Thor A.C.E. 29G

Images by Thor Motor Coach

Specs

  • Length: 31’11”
  • GVWR: 18,000 pounds
  • Chassis: Ford® F-53
  • Sleeping Capacity: Up to 6

Favorite Feature: Combo Closet with Washer/Dryer Prep

Deviating from Freedom Motorhomes, Thor’s A.C.E. lineup also offers several excellent small Class A RVs. The A.C.E. 29G offers a unique floor plan you won’t find in the Freedom Traveler lineup, and it just so happens to boast a feature none of the others do—a closet with washer and dryer hookups.

That closet lies just to the left when you open the pocket door into the rear bedroom. While the door allows you to close off the rear suite entirely, a privacy curtain keeps the bed separate if you leave the door open. That will enable kids or guests to get to the rear bathroom with less chance of waking you up.

Speaking of extra sleeping areas, this small ACE motorhome has three. There’s a 52” x 74” bed on a power lift system above the cab, a 68” jackknife sofa that converts to a bed, and a 68” Dream Dinette that collapses for a third sleeping area.
