ARE YOU INTERESTED in a camper van but worried it might be too cramped? Camper vans come in many sizes, and even the largest Class B RVs are easy to drive and maneuver, making them suitable for winding roads and campgrounds. If van life has been calling, but you still want a comfortable RV interior, let’s explore the largest camper van brands.
Key Takeaways
- Largest Class B RVs like the Winnebago Era, Airstream Interstate, and Coachmen Galleria maximize interior comfort and luxury while staying under 25 feet, offering features such as multiple floor plans, diesel engines, upscale finishes, and seating for up to nine in some models.
- Class B Plus RVs (e.g., Thor Eddie Bauer 22ET, Winnebago Navion 24D, and Thor Coleman 24CL) provide more interior space and custom layouts while remaining compact and easy to drive. This makes them ideal for travelers who want comfort without upsizing to a full Class C.
- Why Choose a Large Class B or B+? They offer better drivability, more campground access, and upgraded features for off-grid travel and winter use, though they typically cost more due to premium materials and complex builds.

ToggleCamper Van or Class B Plus Motorhome?
Some refer to DIY van conversions as camper vans and traditionally pre-built models as Class B RVs. However, they share one critical feature that makes the terms interchangeable – they are built on a standard cargo van chassis, such as the Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, RAM ProMaster, or Ford Transit.
If you want more interior space, you’re likely looking for a Class B Plus RV. These campers utilize the front end of a traditional cargo van but feature an open rear platform—this is known as a cutaway chassis. It allows manufacturers to design custom floor plans with fewer constraints. Class B Plus camper vans are longer, more spacious, and typically offer higher-end finishes and amenities. There are even Class B+ RVs with a slide-out for even more living space.
What’s the Biggest Class B RV?
Van campers typically range from 17 to 23 feet in length. The biggest Class B RVs are on the higher end of that scale, ranging from 22 feet to just under 25 feet.
Winnebago Era
Specs
- Length: 24’3”
- Engine: 3.0L 6-Cylinder Diesel
- GVWR: 11,030 pounds
- Sleeping Capacity: Up to 3
Winnebago is synonymous with quality in the RV world, and the Era lineup meets the brand’s high expectations. With three versatile floor plans, there’s an Era for every camper’s needs.
Each Era Class B RV is powered by diesel for maximum efficiency and reliability, on and off the road. The interiors are modern and luxurious, featuring Ultraleather® seats for ultimate comfort. The Truma Combi® Eco Plus heating and Coleman®-Mach® NDQ air conditioning system keep everything temperature-controlled in any climate.
Now let’s dive into each floor plan, starting with the 70A.
Era 70A: Sleeps 3

The only floor plan that sleeps three features two twin beds that can be converted to a 68” by 75” bed. Up front, the sofa converts to a 36” by 66” single bed for an extra guest. This floor plan also includes a large wardrobe and a removable pedestal table. Here are some other highlights:
- 26-gallon gray water tank (the 70B and 70X hold significantly less)
- 5.5 cubic foot 12V refrigerator
- 2-burner range
- Delux sleep system
Era 70B: Best Galley

The 70B features sizeable countertops, a 3-burner range, and a spacious six-cubic-foot refrigerator. It also includes a shirt closet, rear power sofa bed, and movable pedestal table. The 24” by 43” wet bath makes showering at camp feel luxurious. Other highlights include:
- Passenger seating for up to six
- Bamboo sink cover with cutting board
- Microwave convection oven
- Removable companion seats
Era 70X: Best For Bringing Friends

The 70X is almost identical to the 70B, but it trades the larger refrigerator for another companion seat. This means it can safely seat up to seven passengers. Other highlights include:
- 4.3 cubic foot 12V refrigerator
- Cold water purification system
- 3-burner gas range
- 2.6-gallon water heater
Airstream Interstate
Specs
- Length: 24’4” to 24”6’
- Engine: 3.0L 6-Cylinder Turbo Diesel or 2.0L 4-Cylinder Turbo Diesel
- GVWR: 11,030 pounds
- Sleeping Capacity: Up to 2
Sleek interiors, comfort, and high performance are all part of the Airstream brand, and the Interstate series is no exception. This luxury series is based on the Mercedes-Benz® Sprinter 3500 chassis, offering elite handling and top-tier technology to enhance safety during travel. This lineup is where functionality and style meet.
Interstate 24GT: Ultimate Comfort

The Grand Tour or 24GT is your go-to Interstate model for maximum comfort. This large Class B RV seats up to seven passengers in an upscale rear lounge area, and at night, it converts easily to a spacious sleeping quarter. Other highlights include:
- Timberline 2.0 diesel-powered tankless water heater
- Dupont Corian® countertops with backsplash
- 2 LED widescreen TVs
- Adjustable LED lighting
Interstate 24GL: Travel with 9 People

Take the whole family on tour with one of Airstream’s largest Class B RVs. It can safely seat up to nine people, and the rear lounge has two jump seats plus a bench seat. The trade-off for seating more people is losing some storage, but that might be worth it for large families. Other highlights include:
- Option to seat only seven with all-wheel drive
- Ultraleather® seating
- 13,500-BTU air conditioner
- 400-watt solar system
Interstate 24X: Best for the Adventurer

The 24X combines Airstream comfort with ultimate flexibility. Its interior is modular, allowing you to accommodate extra passengers or load up with gear. The L-track tie systems secure larger items, such as bikes and kayaks. With its six all-terrain tires and all-wheel drive capability, you can confidently take the 24X off the beaten path. Other highlights include:
- Flex bed system for two twins or one king
- 2-burner propane cooktop
- 5.0 cubic foot fridge
- 5,000-pound tow capacity
Coachmen Galleria
Specs
- Length: 24’3”
- Engine: 3.0L 6-Cylinder Turbo Diesel or 2.0L 4-Cylinder Turbo Diesel
- GVWR: 11,030 pounds
- Sleeping Capacity: Up to 2
Like the Airstream Interstate series, Coachmen’s Galleria lineup offers another series of large Class B motorhomes. These are also built on the Mercedes-Benz® Sprinter 3500 chassis. They feature high-end finishes, such as Amish-made maple cabinetry and the high-tech Truma Combi® furnace and water heater system. Let’s dive into each floor plan.
Galleria 24FL: Lounge Seating

The 24FL features a large rear lounge that extends into a spacious bed. The mid-ship has an expansive wardrobe closet for additional storage. Other highlights include:
- Removable Lagun table
- Onan QG 2500 propane quiet generator
- Motion sensor lighting
- Oxygenics Fury handheld shower head
Galleria 24TL: Large Galley

If you’re shopping for the largest Class B RV on the used market, the 24TL is worth a look. Like the 24FL, it features rear lounge seating but switches the galley to the driver’s side. This allows Coachmen to extend the countertops to provide more cooking surface area. Other highlights include:
- An additional front seat behind the cockpit passenger
- A removable table set up for the swiveling captain chairs
- Overhead wardrobes
- A full wet bath
Galleria 24Q: Seating in the Front and Rear

The 24Q features two different areas for lounging. Up front, there are two additional passenger seats. This is my least favorite Galleria floor plan because that extra seating means sacrificing galley, bathroom, and storage space. Other highlights include:
- Reading lights with individual switches and USB ports
- Truma Aventa 13,500-BTU air conditioner with dehumidifier
- Dedicated C-PAP machine outlet
- Horizon solid surface countertops
Galleria 24A: Work from the Road

My favorite is the 24A, which features a fixed bed with a power incline and storage below, rather than the rear lounge setup. It also comes standard with a desk. You can opt for a mid-ship chair or pull-out sofa, but the desk brings the most value, especially for remote work. Other highlights include:
- Dual closet/pantry
- Countertop extension
- Refrigerator with pull-out feature
- 68” x 74” bed
Should You Step Up to a B Plus Motorhome?
If you want more flexibility and living space, it might be time to consider a Class B Plus RV. They handle like a traditional Class B, but the cutaway chassis gives manufacturers more options to customize a build with more space while staying compact and easy to drive.
Thor Eddie Bauer 22ET
Specs
- Length: 23’7”
- Engine: 3.5L V6 Turbo
- GVWR: 11,000 pounds
- Sleeping Capacity: Up to 2
Gearheads, rejoice! The Eddie Bauer 22ET has extensive storage and all-wheel drive to power your next adventure. Built on the Ford® Transit EcoBoost® chassis, this Class B Plus RV is a powerful option that can take you on the road less traveled.
The queen Skybunk® bed sits above a “mega” storage area with two access points: a rear door and a side-loading port. It also has adjustable tracks to secure things while traveling.
Take this Class B Plus RV off-grid with two 12V lithium house batteries and a 400-watt solar charging system. The Winegard® ConnecT 2.0 Wi-Fi/4G/TV antenna keeps you connected while on the road, and the 4.0-kW gas generator provides an extra power boost to extend your stay.
The bathroom is large for an RV under 25 feet, especially since the 22ET doesn’t have a slide. The shower is a spacious 30” by 36” and features a curved shower curtain bar for a little extra wiggle room. It also features a large mirrored medicine cabinet.
My favorite “little something extra” or “lagniappe” feature—as Louisanans would say—is the large built-in skylight over the cab. Natural light goes a long way in making a space feel open and spacious, which is important for smaller RVs without slides. If I were buying an RV from this list, the 22ET would be my top choice.
Winnebago Navion 24D
Specs
- Length: 25’6”
- Engine: 2.0L 4-Cylinder Diesel
- GVWR: 11,030 pounds
- Sleeping Capacity: Up to 4
At just under 26 feet, the Navion 24D offers more interior space than a traditional camper van without the full size of a Class C motorhome.
This model comfortably sleeps up to four, thanks to a versatile Murphy bed/sofa combo and 49” x 75” cabover bunk. The full-wall slide opens things up, giving it a rare residential feel in this class. And the U-shaped dinette makes it easy for everyone to gather around and socialize.
This big Class B RV’s defining feature is its expansive kitchen with induction and propane cooktops, a full-size fridge, and a road trip-ready pantry. In the back, a dry bath with added wardrobe space makes daily routines easier and more private—something you won’t find in many compact RVs.
Optional theater seating with swivel tables offers an excellent setup for remote work or relaxing, but families may appreciate the dinette’s flexibility.
Overall, the Navion 24D stands out as a spacious, feature-rich Class B Plus RV—ideal for those who want more room and comfort without the downsides of a cabover camper design.
Thor Coleman 24CL
Specs
- Length: 25’10”
- Engine: 2.0L 4-Cylinder Diesel
- GVWR: 12,125 pounds
- Sleeping Capacity: Up to 4
If you want an affordable Class B Plus RV built on a robust Mercedes-Benz® diesel chassis, the Coleman 24CL might be your RV. This chassis comes with standard safety features like active braking assist, attention assist, and lane keeping assist, giving you comfort and security on the road.
Inside, this RV has everything you need to feel at home. The slide features a Murphy bed sofa that pulls out to a queen-size bed and Thor’s signature Dream Dinette®. If you have additional people with you, the 52” by 87” cabover bunk provides a comfortable and spacious sleeping area, complete with cup holders.
I’m always a fan of an RV with a good kitchen. With smaller RVs, you often trade kitchen space for other features. However, the Coleman 24CL maximizes space with the slide, giving you a better kitchen experience. It has a 3-burner gas range, a full pantry, a large 12V refrigerator, and a flip-up countertop extension to increase surface area.
Other specs that make this RV a great option include the tankless water heater, 15,000 BTU air conditioner, and large 30+ gallon fresh, gray, and black water tanks.

Why Is a Class B More Expensive than a Class C?
Class B camper vans are more expensive because they often feature more premium materials. They are versatile, fuel-efficient, and easy to drive, which makes them a better choice for off-grid builds. That means they’ll typically feature upgraded materials like lithium batteries, solar panels, and a more robust chassis. They are also more challenging to build, requiring greater precision due to the constraints of the chassis body.
Can You Live in a Class B in the Winter?
Yes, you can live in a Class B camper in the winter! Of course, this depends on where you’re planning to live. Winter RV living in North Dakota differs from snowbirding in southern Arizona. You’ll benefit from upgraded, all-weather features, like heated water holding tanks, more robust insulation, and an efficient heating system like the Truma Combi® or another diesel-powered furnace.
Whether you need extra seating or want more interior space, larger Class B RVs are an excellent option for those who still want a motorhome that is easy to maneuver. RVs under 25 feet have a wider variety of campground options and can even be great for boondocking.
