FROM a fifth wheel specifically engineered for the Texas heat to an early candidate for the best small 5th wheel of the year, 2027 RV models are already making waves. Some RVs on our list are making their debut this year, while others offer new floor plans from longstanding favorites like Jayco and Rockwood. Either way, we’re introducing eight models that caught our attention early, and making the cases for why they deserve a spot on your radar.
Mesquite 3835TRIP: Built for the Heat

The Mesquite lineup — built by the Forest River team behind Sierra and Sandpiper — is a Texas private label designed specifically to withstand the relentless heat of the Southern US. Most fifth wheels are engineered for general use, but the Mesquite was built from the ground up with a specific climate in mind: hot.
What makes the 3835TRIP particularly interesting is how much it packs into the coach’s rear. The dual bunk room with its own private bath offers a unique appeal for larger families, but the addition of a massive living area lounger means the sleeping capacity doesn’t come at the expense of comfort when everyone is awake. This is a floor plan designed to sleep your crowd and keep them comfortable while doing it.

Cougar Half-Ton 30REP: A Smarter Side Patio

Images by Camping World
Side patio RVs had a real moment in 2026, and I think Keystone wants to see if that momentum carries into 2027 with the Cougar Half-Ton 30REP. To my knowledge, this marks the first time a side patio has appeared in the Cougar Half-Ton lineup, but the patio placement (compared to other models I’ve seen) is what caught my attention.
Rather than stepping off the rear living area, the patio steps off the kitchen, giving it a more central location that changes how you use the space. It puts the charcuterie prep and the outdoor living in closer conversation. Is that the right call for how you camp? I’m intrigued, but that’s exactly the question this floor plan asks.

Jay Flight 335BHS: 25 Years In, Still Finding New Ideas

Jayco is celebrating 25 years of the Jay Flight name in 2027, and they’ve done more than just add a badge. Gone is the SLX branding after Jay Flight (I guess that’s “so 2026”). Last year’s SLX floor plans are re-branded under the streamlined Jay Flight name, and they’re bringing several new floor plans into the mix. From my early research, the 335BHS is one of the most intriguing additions.
The rear bunk room concept is deceptively simple, but oh-so-practical. Instead of anchoring the double-stacked bunks to a wall, they moved them to the center of the room. The result is dual-pocket-door access from either side, which changes the whole dynamic. There’s no hallway bottleneck, more room to move, better nightstands and ward storage, and dedicated steps to get to the upper bed. It’s a small design change that makes a real difference for a family of four, especially as the kids get older.

Montana High Country 300RK: A 2-Person 5th Wheel That Just Works

Images by Camping World
The Montana and Montana High Country lineups have long been a benchmark fifth wheel segment. Starting in 2026 and continuing into their 2027 lineups, Keystone made meaningful improvements like upgraded TCS suspension (for a 50% smoother tow), a 4′ x 8′ pass through sliding tray for easier storage access, and a stronger upper deck and reinforced axle box for improved structural support and longevity.
Aside from the other notable aesthetic refreshes, the pull-out dinette that doubles as a two-person workspace is what drew me to the High Country 300RK. If you work from the road, you deserve a floor plan that works with you, and this one certainly delivers. His-and-hers desk space isn’t a common RV feature, no matter the type. So, for the right buyer, it’s exactly the reason to choose this floor plan over a competitor.

Campsite Reserve 32GT: A New Two-Bedroom Contender

Images by Camping World
Two-bedroom 5th wheel floor plans aren’t new in the RV industry, but travel trailers with this layout are much rarer. Because the Campsite Reserve team has been so successful with one of America’s fastest-growing RV brands, I was excited to see their approach to the 2-bedroom layout. The 32GT didn’t disappoint.
The rear bedroom features an east-to-west queen bed that leaves walking space around the foot of the bed, which is often overlooked. It pairs that smart touch with washer-dryer prep and a pass through half bath. Dual-entry access is a smart call in this 40-foot trailer, and the fact that one of those entries feeds directly into the main bathroom gives you a genuine mudroom that elevates this to a serious full-time living contender.

Airelume 232: The Slideless Floor Plan That Has Us Curious

Images by Forest River
The Airelume brand debuted in 2026, and while we’re still waiting on full specs for the 232 floor plan, the floor plan image alone has me curious. Based on its position in the lineup, I’d expect it to land somewhere in the 26-28 foot range. But doing a slideless floor plan well in that length is the kind of challenge that gives this trailer a chance to turn heads.
The floor plan set is legitimately ambitious: a full rear bath, a dinette, a “Jiffy sofa,” the Airelume-signature coffee nook, an L-shaped kitchen with generous counterspace, and a private front bedroom. If the execution is there, it’ll likely become one of the most compelling options in the lightweight, easy setup segment.

Cougar Sport 2100ML: Biggest Kitchen in a 26’ 5th Wheel?

Images by Camping World
For the last few years, the smallest fifth wheel in the Cougar Sport lineup has been the 2400RE. But the 2100ML sets a new “low” bar, and in this case, that’s a great thing! Finding a 26-foot fifth wheel is already uncommon. Finding one with genuine bar top seating and this kind of kitchen space is rarer still.
For solo travelers or couples who want the maneuvering advantages of a shorter coach without sacrificing cooking and entertaining space, the 2100ML is an early candidate for the best small 5th wheel of 2027.

Rockwood Mini Lite 2524FBT: Slide-Free and Surprisingly Spacious

Images by Forest River
Rockwood and Flagstaff have been quietly perfecting the art of the slide-free floor plan, and the 2524FBT is one of my favorite examples yet. The 2026 model year gave us early signals that this slideless direction was working; the 2524FBT looks set to further test that theory.
In a couple’s coach, the balance between living comfort and working functionality is easy to miss. The 2524FBT threads it well: theater seating for the evenings, a two-person dinette that doubles as a remote workspace, and a footprint that doesn’t require a massive tow vehicle. If you’ve been waiting for a slide-free option that’s truly designed for cross-country road trips, this one has to be on your list.

What Else Is Coming in 2027
Beyond the eight models above, there are a couple of broader moves worth watching. Keystone recently took over the Eddie Bauer brand, and given what they’ve done with the Coleman lineup — expanded floor plans, a strong value proposition, and improved features — it’s impossible not to be curious about where they’ll take the 2027 Eddie Bauer lineup.
Freedom Motorhomes added one new brand in 2026: the Freedom Mover passenger van. But we’re keeping an eye out for Thor introducing a new Super C motorhome to that lineup in 2027, as well. Early name we’re hearing? The Freedom Commander.
And then there’s Campsite Reserve entering the Class C motorhome segment. Their travel trailers have built a loyal following on the strength of thoughtful layouts and industry-leading storage, so seeing how they translate that philosophy to a motorhome platform will be one of the bigger storylines we’ll be watching this year.
