Here’s a quick recap of this week’s NHTSA RV Recall updates, along with some next steps for RV owners. Several of this week’s recalls stem from a defective MaxxAir™ fan circuit board, affecting multiple RV brands.
Forest River Recalls
The Federal Placard on certain 2026-2027 Wildwood and Salem recreational trailers may list an incorrect Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (GVWR) and incorrect axle specifications due to a clerical error in which a tandem axle option code was applied to triple axle vehicles.
As such, these vehicles fail to comply with Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard (FMVSS) 120, “Wheels and Rims-Other Than Passenger Cars.” An operator may unintentionally overload the vehicle due to an incorrect GVWR, which may lead to loss of vehicle control and increase the risk of a crash.
Dealers will install a corrected Federal Placard, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on August 17, 2026.

Grand Design Recalls
The printed circuit board (PCB) installed in the MaxxAir™ fan assembly on certain 2026-2027 Lineage recreational vehicles may have a defect that can cause overheating during certain operations. If a thermal event occurs, it may cause a fire, increasing the risk of personal injury and property damage.
Dealers will inspect the fan and, if the camper contains the suspect PCB, replace it with a corrected version, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on July 31, 2026.

Winnebago Recalls
The printed circuit board (PCB) installed in the MaxxAir™ fan assembly on certain 2027 View and Navion recreational vehicles may have a defect that can cause overheating during certain operations. If a thermal event occurs, it may cause a fire, increasing the risk of personal injury and property damage.
Dealers will inspect the fan and, if the camper contains the suspect PCB, replace it with a corrected version, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on September 4, 2026.

Foretravel Recalls
The printed circuit board (PCB) installed in the MaxxAir™ fan assembly on certain 2027 Realm Presidential Motorcoaches may have a defect that can cause overheating during certain operations. If a thermal event occurs, it may cause a fire, increasing the risk of personal injury and property damage.
Dealers will inspect the fan and, if the unit contains the suspect PCB, replace it with a corrected version, free of charge. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on September 18, 2026.

Ember RV Recalls
The Federal Certification labels on certain 2027 Overland Series, Touring Edition, and E-Series recreational trailers may list an incorrect Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) due to a software error that generated an inaccurate check digit. The VIN is a critical link to identifying whether a vehicle is subject to a safety recall. An incorrect VIN may prevent an owner from accurately determining whether their vehicle is included in a current or future recall, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.
Affected owners will receive a corrected label and Manufacturer’s Statement of Origin by mail. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on August 17, 2026.

ATC Recalls
The wireless receiver modules on certain 2026 RM500 and RM700 trailers equipped with a Warn winch wireless remote kit may be incompatible with certain legacy winches equipped with individual solenoid-type control packs. This incompatibility may damage the wireless receiver or cause the winch to fail to stop when commanded, potentially leading to unexpected winch operation, property damage, or personal injury.
ATC will notify owners with instructions to stop using the wireless remote function if compatibility is uncertain, and will replace the wireless remote with a compatible wired remote model. Owners who purchased a wireless remote for an incompatible winch will be reimbursed. Owner notification letters are expected to be mailed on August 31, 2026.
