About Contributor

Originally from NC, our family has traveled America since September 2021 in our fifth wheel, visiting 29 states and over 50 national park units. We love the roadschooling adventure, learning more about ourselves, our country, and other cultures. Our favorite memories are at Zion and Acadia, where the sweeping beauty has captured our hearts!

When you think of a toy hauler, you might imagine a 40-foot behemoth. But you may not need a huge garage and a heavy fifth wheel to enjoy ample hauling capacity. The best travel trailer toy hauler models provide proper storage for ebikes, kayaks, dirt bikes, or even a small side-by-side without requiring an upgrade to a three-quarter-ton truck.

Picks for the Best Small Toy Hauler Travel Trailer

If you’re looking for a lightweight hauler, check out these small toy hauler travel trailer floor plans:

Forest River Campsite Reserve 19KR

Specs

  • Length: 26’
  • Dry Weight: 4,993 pounds
  • Cargo Capacity: 2,732 pounds
  • Garage Length: 10’

This 26-foot toy hauler travel trailer features a 90” x 76” patio deck, extending the outdoor space and providing a quiet place to drink morning coffee or evening wine. If you love the idea of the rear patio and a more open, customizable garage space, the Campsite Reserve 19KR is an excellent choice.

It also features two reclining chairs with a flip-up table in between, providing an additional dining area when the weather is cold or rainy. A full kitchen is located opposite the two chairs, and an entertainment center with an electric fireplace complements the living area. I especially love the hidden storage behind the entertainment center, perfect for pantry items or camping gear.

A king bed is situated at the front of the camper, accompanied by a standard side wardrobe and overhead storage, which is common in many travel trailers. This model does not have slide-outs, which results in a smaller interior but less maintenance.

Forest River Grey Wolf 18RR

Images by Camping World

Specs

  • Length: 24’1”
  • Dry Weight: 5,008 pounds
  • Cargo Capacity: 2,662 pounds
  • Garage Length: 10’1”

The Grey Wolf 18RR may be only 24 feet long, but it boasts an impressive 2,600-pound cargo capacity. With preliminary cargo space that’s just over 10 feet long but a total length from the ramp door to the front queen bed of 15’2”, cargo space certainly isn’t limited in this toy hauler travel trailer.

Depending on how full you load this toy hauler travel trailer, you must pay close attention to your vehicle’s towing capacity. There’s a big difference between a 6,200-pound and a 7,400-pound trailer.

This toy hauler’s layout is unique because it doesn’t feature opposing sofas in the garage. While you won’t be able to sleep as many people, this design creates more flow between the kitchen and dining areas. I love the fold-down sofa with a removable table, creating an indoor eating area and a second sleeping space. Additionally, the living space is extended by the 90” x 76” rear patio.

Forest River Ozark 1900THK

Images by Camping World

Specs

  • Length: 23’4”
  • Dry Weight: 5,228 pounds
  • Cargo Capacity: 4,312 pounds
  • Garage Length: 10’5”

The Ozark 1900THK makes this list because of Forest River’s wonderful Stow N’ Load bunk system in the garage. This system makes it easy to convert the garage into a functional living space and then into a comfortable sleeping area once it’s unloaded.

You’ll also notice that the kitchen on the utility side offers an excellent amount of counterspace, making meal prep and serving easier in a toy hauler that sleeps up to four people. Additionally, the ramp door converts into a patio deck, allowing you to enjoy meals outside at any time of day.

However, like the Grey Wolf 18RR, it’s essential to know the loaded weight of this camper and the towing capacity of your truck. The whopping 4,312 pounds of cargo capacity allows you to bring pretty much all the outdoor toys and gear you can fit. However, there’s a big difference between towing 7,200 pounds and 9,500 pounds.

Best Toy Hauler Travel Trailers in 2026

With versatile living spaces, rugged garages, and off-grid capabilities, these travel trailer toy haulers offer plenty for outdoor adventurers hauling recreation gear or remote workers needing private office space. Check out our list of the 2026 best toy hauler travel trailers!

Forest River Ozark 2900THK

Specs

  • Length: 36’5”
  • Dry Weight: 7,648 pounds
  • Cargo Capacity: 3,897 pounds
  • Garage Length: 10’

If you’re looking for a lounge space instead of a dining area or bunk beds, the Ozark 2900THK offers a garage with an L-shaped, flip-out sofa layout facing a wall of windows. This is an excellent space for family game night, teenage video game binges, or entertaining guests. This garage is also separated from the rest of the toy hauler with a wall and door.

Because this is a larger travel trailer toy hauler, the front bedroom is completely separated from the rest of the floor plan, offering added privacy for parents. The U-shaped dinette is also family-friendly, along with the pantry closet and hidden shelves behind the entertainment center.

For another option under 30 feet, compare the Ozark 2500THK.

Forest River Campsite Reserve 23TS

Specs

  • Length: 28’
  • Dry Weight: 5,470 pounds
  • Cargo Capacity: 2,230 pounds
  • Garage Length: 10’6”

The Campsite Reserve 23TS toy hauler travel trailer also features a garage space that doubles as the living area. There are two reclining chairs with a flip-up table in between, like the smaller Campsite Reserve 19KR. However, they’re on the opposite side, and the entertainment center is on the campside wall.

The L-shaped kitchen offers excellent counterspace, particularly in a shorter toy hauler. However, you might notice all the open space along the driver’s side wall. If you need more storage and don’t plan to load larger toys that will use that space, you could install a shelf or drawers here. It could also be a great spot to hang travel photos!

Subscribe to the Camping World YouTube channel to see the latest RVs.

Specs

  • Length: 32’8”
  • Dry Weight: 7,163 pounds
  • Cargo Capacity: 4,292 pounds
  • Garage Length: 14’2”

With a massive cargo capacity, the Nightfall 27N is an excellent toy hauler travel trailer for hauling a heavy ATV or a couple of motorcycles. The garage measures just over 14 feet, including the kitchen and dining areas.

With a removable dinette, two gaucho sofas, and a drop-down queen Euro bed, this garage provides ample sleeping space and plenty of room to haul gear.

The ramp door has a 3,000-pound capacity, and the patio deck can hold up to 1,500 pounds. If you’re traveling with pets, the patio is a great place to keep them enclosed while still allowing them to enjoy the sunshine.

The L-shaped kitchen offers ample counterspace and storage, and the central area of the camper is excellent for lounging pets or playing kids. Parents will appreciate the privacy of the front bedroom, which has a queen bed and standard storage options.

Cherokee Wolf Pack 25-14

Images by Camping World

Specs

  • Length: 30’5”
  • Dry Weight: 6,518 pounds
  • Cargo Capacity: 4,807 pounds
  • Garage Length: 14’

If you’re looking for somewhat of a blank, multi-purpose toy hauler canvas, check out the Cherokee Wolf Pack 25-14. There is nothing along the campside wall, allowing for plenty of room for an ATV, motorcycle, ebikes, kayaks, and more. There is a flip-up table with two stools along the opposite wall, but even this can be laid down for transport. Cherokee has provided plenty of room to take advantage of the 4,800 pounds of cargo capacity.

The biggest drawback of the Wolf Pack 25-14 is the size of the kitchen. It is very, very small with little to no counterspace. But if you enjoy cooking and eating outdoors, you’ll likely find it suitable for your needs. If needed, the flip-up table does offer extra prep space, but this might be the perfect toy hauler to add a portable folding table to for added convenience.

Compare other Wolf Pack toy hauler travel trailers: 27-12.5, 24-14.5, and 26-13.5.

Cherokee Grey Wolf 22RR

Images by Camping World

Specs

  • Length: 29’
  • Dry Weight: 5,763 pounds
  • Cargo Capacity: 2,107 pounds
  • Garage Length: 12’9”

The Cherokee Grey Wolf 22RR has one of the lowest cargo capacities among the toy hauler travel trailers on this list. But it still provides all the essentials for a camping adventure. The patio deck gives you an outdoor space large enough for comfortable camping chairs and a pet bed.

Inside, you’ll find opposing fold-down sofas and a removable table in the garage. Like the Wolf Pack 25-14, the kitchen is small and has limited counterspace, but the sink cover provides additional meal prep space. The front bedroom has an RV king bed with side wardrobes and overhead cabinets.

Outside, this Grey Wolf has a 15-foot awning, a TV mount, and an LP quick connect. With these features, you’ll spend more time outdoors than inside, which is the point of camping anyway, right?

Salem FSX 260RTK

Specs

  • Length: 28’6”
  • Dry Weight: 5,438 pounds
  • Cargo Capacity: 4,197 pounds
  • Garage Length: 13’4”

The Salem FSX 260RTK features two sofa sleepers and a removable table in the garage, a 90” x 75” ramp door that converts into a patio deck, and a 15-foot exterior awning. There is a custom king bed in the front bedroom, which has the standard overhead storage and side wardrobes.

The bathroom is uniquely shaped, stretching between both interior walls to form a large triangle. The toilet is situated in a cubby, the shower is positioned in the center, and a sink is located on the other side of the shower. There is no linen closet in the bathroom.

Like the Wolf Pack travel trailer toy haulers, the kitchen is small, but the open space and large windows make the central area a great place for young kids to play or pets to lounge on a rainy day.

Jay Flight SLX 265TH

Images by Jayco

Specs

  • Length: 30’4”
  • Dry Weight: 5,315 pounds
  • Cargo Capacity: 3,185 pounds
  • Garage Length: 13’10” (5’11” Cargo Area)

One of the unique features of the Jay Flight 265TH is the flip-up bar top, which includes overhead cabinet storage in the kitchen. This layout features a workstation or dining space for two, positioned adjacent to a large campside window.

In the garage, you’ll find two jackknife sofas and a removable table. Those sofas are larger than you’d find in comparable travel trailer toy hauler floor plans, mainly because you won’t find a drop-down bunk in this garage. The 7-foot ramp features a spring assist, but it’s not designed to convert to a rear patio deck.

There’s an entertainment center mounted in front of the kitchen, allowing you to enjoy your shows from the sofas or the bar-top seating. The kitchen is small, offering limited counterspace, but it has all the necessary appliances. The front bedroom features a queen bed, side wardrobes, and a private bathroom entrance.

Cherokee Rogue Armored 26L140

Specs

  • Length: 34’
  • Dry Weight: 8,704 pounds
  • Cargo Capacity: 4,761 pounds
  • Garage Length: 13’4”

The Rogue Armored 26L140 is another toy hauler camper with a massive cargo capacity. It’s also the heaviest option on our list, which means you might need a larger truck to tow it safely, especially when fully loaded.

The garage features a table between two flip-up sofas and a queen bed above. One of the most unique highlights of this toy hauler travel trailer is the rolling island. Use it for meal prep, move it against the wall to display photos, or roll it next to the garage table for an extended dining area.

Thanks to two slide-outs, the interior feels significantly more spacious than other models on this list. There is a generous amount of counterspace and all the necessary appliances for a camping getaway. The second slide-out is in the bedroom, making this space a comfortable oasis. I also love the dresser in the bedroom that replaces the side wardrobes and overhead storage.

Honorable Mentions

Toy Hauler Travel Trailer vs Fifth Wheel Toy Hauler

The two styles of toy hauler campers require different hitch components for safe towing. The best choice for you depends on your tow vehicle and what it’s set up for – or what you’re willing to spend to make the necessary adjustments.

The main advantage of a toy hauler travel trailer over a fifth wheel toy hauler is eliminating the need to install a fifth wheel hitch in the bed of your truck. Fifth wheel hitches are generally more expensive and require a more lengthy installation process. They also eliminate your ability to use your truck bed for gear storage.

You’ll still need a proper weight distribution hitch to tow a travel trailer toy hauler safely. Still, the installation process is more straightforward, and they’re easier to get familiar with if you’re a first-timer. You also retain the ability to use your truck bed for storage.

Discover the smallest toy hauler with a 14-foot garage.

How Much Weight Can a Toy Hauler Camper Carry?

As you can see from the varying cargo-carrying capacities, these toy hauler travel trailers can carry up to 4,500 pounds. This is plenty of allowance for an ATV, a motorcycle, and kayaks or ebikes. The tie-downs have specific weight ratings, but you’ll find the ratings to match the cargo carrying capacity of that particular camper.

Once you get into larger fifth wheel toy haulers, you start to see cargo-carrying capacities of over 5,000 pounds. For example, the 45-foot Grand Design Momentum 410TH has a CCC of 5,700 pounds. This is why the largest fifth wheel toy haulers are often triple axles.

What Is a Drivable Toy Hauler Called?

While most toy haulers are towable RVs, there are two motorhomes with rear garages. Thor makes a Class C toy hauler line called the Outlaw. These drivable toy haulers feature an 8,000-pound hitch rating, enabling you to tow a second vehicle or an additional trailer. The Thor Outlaw 29J is about 32 feet long with an 8-foot garage, and the Thor Outlaw 29T is about 31 feet long with a 10-foot garage.

A Note on Safe Towing

Weight distribution hitch

Toy hauler travel trailers will require a properly rated weight distribution hitch if the camper’s loaded weight exceeds 50% of your tow vehicle’s curb weight. Learn more about weight distribution, when you need it, and how to hook up and adjust a weight distribution hitch:
