RV Recall Updates | Mar. 10, 2026

This week’s NHTSA Recall updates hit our desk yesterday. Here’s a quick recap, along with some next steps for RV owners.

Newmar Recalls

The hydronic heating system wiring may be incorrectly connected to constant 12V power on certain 2026 Freedom Aire motorhomes. This can cause the system to unintentionally activate. According to the NHTSA, the unintended activation of this hydronic heating system could produce harmful gas, increasing the risk of injury.

Dealers should repair the wiring and disconnect the hydronic heating system from constant 12V power, free of charge. Notification letters should be mailed to owners by April 24th, 2026.

The hood stops mounting adhesive may fail on certain 2018-2026 Bay Star and Bay Star Sport motorhomes. If it fails, it may allow the hood stop to detach while the vehicle is in transit. This can cause the system to unintentionally activate. According to the NHTSA, hood stops that detach in transit can become a road hazard, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.

Dealers should inspect and reinstall the hood stop brackets, free of charge. Notification letters should be mailed to owners by April 24th, 2026.

Ford Motor Company Recalls

The backup alarm connector on the vehicle frame harness in certain 2026-2027 E-350 and E-450 vehicles may become loose or disengaged from the electrical connector on the backup alarm, causing the alarm to function intermittently or fail to function at all. These E-Series chassis are used by select motorhome manufacturers.

According to the NHTSA, the cause of this issue is a lack of compatibility between the connector on the frame wiring harness and the alarm’s electrical connector, which can prevent a secure connection. If the connector disengages, the alarm will not sound, potentially failing to alert pedestrians or other road users to a reversing vehicle, increasing the risk of a crash or injury.

Owners will be notified by mail and can also determine whether their vehicle is affected by calling Ford directly or contacting a local Ford or Lincoln dealer. Affected owners can bring their vehicle to a Ford or Lincoln dealer to have the exterior sound connector on the frame wiring harness replaced, free of charge. Notification letters should be mailed to owners by March 16th, 2026.
